In the words of Willie.....
Magical Friendships; Unavoidable Regrets; Enchiladas & the Boho 76
It’s the kind of week that makes me thankful for friendships. Thankful for you.
The years crawl, then mosey and eventually fly (with age) and I constantly count my blessings. A few regrets, but not the ones you’d think. Mainly,
I wish I’d noticed more.
Complimented more. Listened more.
Insisted more ( Ok my husband will give me a strange look there…haha)
But it’s ok, baby. As Willie says,
“Regrets, I’ve had a few…..but honey, none of them is you…” - (Our Song, Willie Nelson.)
I’m ruminating, my friends. Thinking about the feelings of safety. Consistency. Boring old “stable”, that has been an elusive dream in our America of late.
But there IS hope…we must believe this! (Bob says so)
Meanwhile…
I’ve made new friends, (in my late 50’s, who knew?) Online friends that I now share some In Real Life (and almost) space with. This is what we can be thankful for, as we concurrently dread becoming the blobs in “Robots”, while still flirting with the monster AI. Glancing over our shoulders, in fear and excitement. An intrigued virgin: terrified and thrilled.
Who knows what we’re facing, but I have serious reservations about bringing old GBT home to meet the parents. 😳
But you guys….that’s a different story.
Cooking with YOU!
Last night
and I made dinner together. She’s in Oklahoma and I’m in Louisiana…but we had a blast! We were doing a dry run for our Substack Live next week (April 17, 2025, details in her Let’s Get Lost newsletter). I honestly thought we should just do it once a week, regardless. 😂 We made the Boho 76 (the Citrusy Sweet Sister to the French 75) which was created for our Lost Supper Club party in February. We made it together, like we’ll do next week with y’all, chatted and gabbed, complained about politics, laughed and drank some more.
Oh and we made enchiladas! Divine! Next week, YOU ARE WITH US!!
These were the best enchiladas I’ve ever had. Simple and adaptable. The exact point! Rebecca’s No-Recipe Recipe. Hers were the classic, amazing Chicken; mine, Shrimp & Crawfish. (
made them too! She has an amazing SS, cooking up other Stackers’ dishes! Brilliant! Please check her out!)I digress. The point is, I’m glad you’re here. I’m honored to be sharing food, thoughts and stories with you.
Other generous stackers…
There are so many of you, but I have to give a shout out to
for being so lovely! We’ve been trying to coordinate a book signing in New Orleans (which sadly won’t happen this go around, but maybe next!) for her new book which is coming out June 3rd, Entertaining 101. This beautiful lady took the time to zoom with me from France, while her kids played in the pool, and give me tips for my new YouTube channel while we watched it together. I can’t even imagine how busy and crazy she must be right now with her million followers….😳 Thank you Beth. These are the people you are. This is how we will brave the unbelievable with Grace.
Til next time, mes amies.
See you next week!
Cheers!
Love your attitude of gratitude!
I’ve just hit 60 and find very few sit at my table now, but it’s cosy and warm, just how I like it ❤️❤️
